A codebook of relevant categories is the core of content analysis. Based on the themes and patterns of the data, a researcher may construct a codebook, in the form of a structured compendium of categories that includes a description of how categories and sub-categories/options interrelate. On DiVoMiner® platform, users can form coding categories from a large text corpus in an efficient, fast, and comprehensible manner.
Content analysis is mainly used to categorize and code the textual data. In content analysis, categorizing methods include:
1) Construct categories based on theories or past research results;
2) Construct categories by researchers themselves based on common sense, experience, and research purposes;
3) Reference categories from other researches: modify and localize other researchers’ categories with local practice, or some other specific standards.
The Categorization section is specifically for constructing categories.
